Ensembl 106 and Ensembl Genomes 53 are expected in February 2022. Check out what we’re up to, although we can’t guarantee everything listed here will make it into the final release.
Continue readingUpdate to the Ensembl COVID-19 resource
The latest release of Ensembl’s covid-19 site includes updated variation datasets plus new alignments and gene trees with around 60 other viral genomes.
Continue readingHomology data available in Ensembl Rapid Release
The Ensembl Rapid Release genome browser now provides homology prediction for every available annotated genome.
Continue reading146 new insect genomes on Ensembl Rapid Release
The latest update to the Ensembl Rapid Release brought 146 winged insect genome assemblies covering 94 different species across Lepidoptera and Hymenoptera orders. The majority of these come from the Darwin Tree of Life project.
Continue readingUpdated G2P terms supported in Ensembl VEP
Recent changes to the terms used in the G2P database are aligned with global standards, but are not compatible with old versions of the VEP G2P plugin. We’ve updated the latest version of the VEP G2P plugin (Ensembl 105) to be compatible with both the old and new formats.
Continue readingEnsembl Fungi 105
When many of us think about fungi, we tend to think of decay and disease. There are, of course, many pathogenic fungi that have a significant impact on human, animal and plant health. However, fungi are also the unsung heroes in many aspects of our life, including food production and other important breakthroughs in medicine and household products (such as detergents).
Continue readingEnsembl 105 has been released
Hooray! Ensembl 105 and Ensembl Genomes 52 have now been released. We have got updates to the human frequency data and new and updated genomes for vertebrates, fungi and plant species. We are also very excited to integrate AlphaFold data for Arabidopsis thaliana in Ensembl Plants.
Continue readingDecommissioning of eQTL REST API endpoints in Ensembl release 105
The Ensembl eQTL API endpoints on Rest.ensembl.org will be replaced by the eQTL catalogue API in the new Ensembl release 105.
Continue readingUpdate: Temporary disruption to Ensembl services has been resolved
Update: Disruptions are now resolved and Ensembl services are back to normal.
We are currently experiencing problems with the infrastructure in our Harlow data centre that is impacting on our services. Ensembl Tools, including VEP and BLAST/BLAT, are currently unavailable as is access to our public MySQL server. There are also problems with some of the Ensembl Genomes sites (plants.ensembl.org, protists.ensembl.org, metazoa.ensembl.org). We are sorry for the trouble this may cause and we hope to restore them as soon as we can.
