Ensembl BlogEnsembl 116 and Ensembl Genomes 63, which were released in June 2026, are the final versions of the legacy Ensembl site and services.
We are currently in a transition phase to our new site, now available at ensembl.org, while our previous sites remain available via archives. Ensembl BioMart is one of the features that is not moving over to the new Ensembl as there is a new data mining tool in development for new site data.

We have temporarily disabled Ensembl Tools, for example VEP and BLAST/BLAT on our vertebrate live websites (www, US East, US West, Asia and GRCh37) whilst we investigate a problem with the underlying infrastructure in our Harlow data center. Some of our archive resources are also currently unavailable. We are sorry for the trouble this may cause and we hope to restore them as soon as we can. Other resources such as our FTP site and public MySQL servers are unaffected.
In Ensembl 103, and subsequent releases, we will be limiting the number of species represented in our gene trees and the BioMart data export tool. These changes are required to most effectively support our rapid growth in the number of available species.
